"As an artist, I strive to communicate visually, in a way that evokes emotion without words. Using a photorealistic, detailed style with a monochromatic medium, my goal is to focus the art afficionado's eye upon the essence of the piece without the interference and distraction of color."
Born and raised in England, Carole's devotion to art dates from childhood, as does her love of dogs. As a primarily self-taught artist, decades of experimentation with various media resulted in her passion for graphite, which she refuses to define as black and white.
"Between those two absolutes lie infinite shades of gray, and my art is a reflection of that. It is through these variations in value that my subjects are revealed in an interplay of light, shadow and texture."
Although, as an owner and lover of Setters, Carole's limited edition prints tend to favor her chosen breed, her subjects cover a wide variety of both people and pets. The soul and spirit are not bound by breed or even species, and it is these qualities that Carole brings out through her accurate attention to detail. A true testimonial to her success is the smiles, or even the tears, brought forth when a client first sees his or her commissioned piece.
Carole's art was awarded as the Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex trophies at the Gordon Setter National Specialty, as well as at the Irish Setter Club of Albuquerque Specialty. In addition, she created the cover illustrations for both The Gordon Quarterly magazine and Golden Retriever World. Her work has been displayed at various venues, incuding the Pacific Wildlife Gallery in northern California, Learning Tree University near Los Angeles, and at the Silver Bay and Orange Empire Club dog shows. And of course, in the homes of private collectors worldwide.
Carole resides in California where she shows, competes and shares couch space with her three Irish Setters, a Gordon Setter and an English Setter. |
